~ DEPRESSION ~

Contributed by AnGeL_M on Friday, 14th May 2004 @ 10:23:01 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I yawn at the world's ignorance,
I'm imprisoned by it's burdens,
Forever frowning upon life,
As I walk into the darkness.

Looking through that covered window,
I imagine what life could be,
Wishing the brightness would shine through,
But I lay alone defeated.

I see through the murky tunnel,
Masterful of my destiny,
The faint light vanishing slowly,
While I wander about, hopeless.

Should I surrender to nature,
Only to watch myself recede?
Would I smile as others grieve me?
Why delay the inevitable?

Ssi, I can't blame you at all for writing a poem like this. There are a lot of questions that need to be answered. Great write, even though you are depressed. Love you. *S* Cynthia

I do not think that the world is ignorant, It is the fact that people sometimes say or do something that can start a depressive phase. remember AnGel it is just a phase that you can come out of at an instants notice.Young children playing will always bring me back to reality where I forget the depressive phases. I suffer from them too mainly through my illness but I try not to let it get me down. Writing about it as you have done in your poem helps. Just keep on writing I will read and mark them accordingly.
Keep smiling now,

bernard.

good job.
question: were you intentionally using 'masterful' in that sense or did you mean it to be 'mindful' with the "you control your own destiny" overtone? just wondering. thanks for sharing.

Ooooooh, I *really* liked this one . . . depression's very hard to deal with and you depicted beautifully how it feels in this poem. I loved the questioning, uncertain air to the end of it . . . like I said, a great depiction.

Wonderfully vivid imagery, as well, especially in the second stanza.

Enough depression already. Live, laugh and love in each day that God gives you. Each one is a special gift given to us to make the best we can of it. You know I love you dearly, but depression only drags you down further. Happiness is essential in a good serene life. You have God, you have breathe, you have love. What else could you possibly need?
