AMERIKAN FRANKENSTEIN

Contributed by steeleyes on Friday, 14th May 2004 @ 09:56:27 AM in AEST
Topic: political

Has George W Bush
Never seen a David Lynch movie?
And his spirit-double
Eraserhead?

Probably not.
All the guys in his head
Are Dick van Dyke
All the gals
Shirley Temple

He can’t get his head round Abu Ghraib
It’s all beyond that line
He only knows the land of OZ
Not Amerikan Frankenstein

The little movies in his head
Start with crashing cars
But it’s all good clean healthy fun
Just beer, cocaine and bars

Eraserhead he is
Oh, yes, all the bad stuff's gone
He’s erased all that from his sight
We salute the Son of Ron

Another president has lost his brain
Yet he hasn’t Reagan’s wit
He had no nous to start with
All lies he’s made to fit

So, see his shock and his dismay
Things are no longer fine
The shining face of his god eclipsed
By Amerikan Frankenstein

Oh, those ugly piggy eyes
Downcast and full of woe
Some bad guys did some bad things
This is not the land I know

Is that right my poor dear?
Is that truly so?
Well, you must be deaf, dumb AND blind
See the sleaze around you grow!

The U.S. underbelly has crept north
Now it’s sleazy right on top
You lying White House politicians
Are just the latest crop

Georgie, watch out you don’t succumb
to nasty nightmares in your sleep
Pulling the Stars ‘n Stripes to your eyes
All bloodstains as you peep

Now look over the side of your crib
As you make some holy sign
As night reflects the darkest heart
Of Amerikan Frankenstein

You just keep on getting better. . .
This is probably the wittiest, scariest, most impressive political poem I've ever read, not just from you, but from anyone in here, or anywhere else.

This deserves recognition . . .

Yet another great write! At least Reagan had an excuse (although I don't think he should have been in office in the first place). What's Bush's? I'm genuinely afraid for my granchildren. Where is all this going? We lose more and more rights everyday under the guise of security. Big Brother is here!! God help us because we need it!! Thank You for voicing the thoughts, fears and indignations that many of us feel but can't put into words as well as you can. KUDOS!!!!
