Listen A While

Contributed by sweet-poison on Thursday, 13th May 2004 @ 01:08:38 PM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

I've never really listened before,
Always had my eyes open,
Never once stopped and covered them,
I have never heard this beauty,
Without looking for it.

But now I'll listen.

I've closed my curtains,
Muted my music,
Opened the window.

Now I hear.

Summer 2004,
Beautiful.

There's birds in my guttering,
I've never listened to their song,
I always drowned them out,
But now I'll listen,
And their optomistic chirping,
Raises my mood,
I regret not listening before, Now,
I'll listen a while longer,
With a smile.

I hear the occasional roar,
Of wheels on tarmac,
The harsh murmer of the engine,
Softened by the hum of the tide,
Crashing down upon the shore,
Disturbing sand and stone,
Yet sounding so peaceful, Calming,
I'll listen a while longer.

The harmonic voices,
Of children playing as they pass,
Unaware of me here, Listening,
memories aroused by their laughing,
And made up games,
Their reaility
Will they ever listen?

A mixture of familliar noises,
Barking dogs,
Doors closing,
People chatting,
Babies crying,
Even the wind,
I've never really listened before,
Never heard beauty this way,
I always looked for it,
There's no need to search,
Just listen,
And I'll listen a while longer.

that is beautiful.. I feel the same way. Sometimes when you are in a somber mood if you just go look at nature and see its beauty, you realize that you should be thankful for what you have. you conveyed your true emotions so elequent in this poem, I really want to take a stroll around the park now; however, in Minnesota it is only 40 degrees right now and rainy! Keep em comin;

That was an absolutely lovely poem. One of the best I've read on this site. It was very soothing and just made me realise how peaceful it is. Hope you write some more poetry on this site. That was brilliant.

Wow!!! This poem might seems simply but I DEFINATELY love it a lot!!! Must of us always spent too much time and energy doing thing, undoing things, worry about things, chasing after things, and totally ignore the peacefulness and beauties we have right beside us, what a shame, we should pause what we are doing from time to time and appricate what we have while we can........ I will rate this one of your BEST poem Kay!^_^
