I am leaving you tomorrow
For worlds apart.
Then I will hold your hand,
Kiss you one last,
Tell of how I love you
And will...
For all the miles
Only Heaven and Earth
Will part us.
I'll make you promises,
I think I can,
But won't keep.
And you'll believe me
Enough to follow
Into an unknown...
Until I have a change of heart
And cannot fathom a way
To break the news
Or the silence
That will have grown between us.
So, a year later,
I'll return,
Heavy heart,
Travelled, worn and tired
To search for you
And truth.
Confusing abounding
Gathering in the corners
Of my mind,
Corridors of my thoughts,
One feeling and others for another.
How will I tell you
Of how I love her
Or think I do...?
How can I journey
There and back
And lose...?
And with ignorance
Expect that your heart
Will not have altered
With the seasons
That have passed between us?
What will I choose
When the distance rears its ugly head
Between her and I?
To return to you...
Unable to keep my hands to myself...?
What will I do??
I am leaving you tomorrow,
I do what I must
I do only as I can do.
I hope
And you...
You must trust.
