Two wrongs don’t make a right
Beheading this poor man was wrong
The killers must be found
It should not stand for long
We are all getting totally sick
Of death and blood and gore
This wasn’t what we signed up to
A never-ending war
Whatever your view about Iraq
And whether you thought the war was right
It is just undeniable
That this has turned into a bloody fight
Where was the plan to keep the peace?
Where were the means to be just?
Where were the controls at Abu Ghraib
Who didn’t control this lust?
From Bush on down through Cheney
To Rumsfeld and Kristol and Perle
We see the arrogance of power
That led us to this hell
So much awful incompetence
So much “Yes Sir” bull
So little real planning
From Commander Fool
And now what is the future?
What will the future be?
Just more endless killing
From here to eternity?

When you have the bit between your teeth, you manage to spit it effortlessly.
This is such a great write - I'm wishing I could write something as powerful and as contemporary as this, but I don't think I have the energy to do it like you do . . . I only manage to write politically every other month, whereas you do it every other day, with such quality.
Commendations.
I thoroughly enjoyed this. |
