I Can Do This for You

Contributed by thumper on Wednesday, 12th May 2004 @ 10:45:25 PM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

I must have been terrible in a previous life
My days are filled with unbearable strife
I think God's intention for my being now
Is to learn some lessons, well I've learned them, AND HOW!!
I've been used and abused, shot at and stabbed
Buried my son, there's more I can add
Soul beaten so much, the scars are aplenty
Used as a scapegoat and whippin-post for many
Through all this abuse, all I've ever done
Is to believe there's a good side to everyone
I've loved every person who's entered my life
Turned the other cheek, like the beliefs of our Christ
Yet, it still keeps coming, will it ever abate?
I really don't know how much more I can take!
I'm edgy and angry. Just a bit paranoid
I try not to be, the feelings I can't avoid
I don't like being this way, I'll admit
But, gosh, Lord please when's this stuff gonna quit?
It keeps battering and hammering me down to the ground
I'm lying here bleeding,my heart can't be found
Lord, what is my lesson? Is humility it?
Or is it perserverence? I've got it! That's it!!
Whatever it is I'm too tired to see
I really wish people would just let me be
I want to lay down and never wake up
Lord, is there a reason you over filled my cup?
Couldn't you share with some other person?
I know, I know. This is my life's burden
I'll pull myself up and dust myself off
Just for you Lord, for you carried the cross
A much larger burden than I'll ever see
I can do this for you 'cause you died for me!

Excellent poem! The Bible says that He knoweth our frame, meaning He knows what we can stand. It also says that He will never put more on us than we can bear. He's brought you this far, hasn't He? Don't give up now!! Try to think of it as a compliment. He must really think a lot of you and what you can do for Him if He has really let you deal with a lot. Just keep on keepin' on!!!

I thought I had to add an encouragement at the end but I didn't, I think you have your life figured out just fine. Thanks for sharing.
