Aileen

Contributed by Overstated on Tuesday, 11th May 2004 @ 05:06:29 PM in AEST
Topic: political

Touched up, felt up, burning from side to side
Loving the past, hating the memories
Been touched up, felt up, running to hide
Paid for lovin, humin to climb

Now Aileen sits in a court room
Forever tied, wearing red, saying farewell
Well she hopes ‘you burn in hell’
Look at her, tearing out her hair
They’re gonna make her disappear
She’ll be out of here from a chair

A brown stained butterfly
With yellow coffee frayed hair
Starched teeth
Heart bleeds
Smashed belief
Scorched flesh
A cold blooded mesh

Spat out by a society
Reproducing her everyday
She’ll come out of the sewers
She’ll drag down the lawyers
She’ll impregnate fate
And unleash all that hate

Give her a boo give her a cheer
She’s a celebrity now, without even having to appear
Should have won an Oscar- if they’d play fair!
All she got was all they sold and all she received is a cold hot chair

Author Note:

This poem is all about a convicted murderer who was sentenced to death - she was subject to much media attention including a hollywood film 'monster'.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
