In this place, I am safe.
From fear, from harm, from life's fast pace.
My heart behind a wall of steel,
I have a place, where it's safe to feel.
In this place, there is a shelf.
Where I keep the treasures, life has dealt.
An ocean breeze, its salty mist.
A smile, a touch, a lover's kiss.
There are some pictures on the wall,
Of friends and family, special to me, one and all,
Of things we've shared, and memories I wish to hold,
So I'll remember when I'm old.
In a jar, I keep the moon,
So I'll be safe when shadows loom.
I also have a teddy bear,
To hold and hug when life's not fair.
For hope, I use a candle's glow,
To find my way when I'm low.
In here I know it's safe to feel,
'Cause I won't be hurt behind the steel.
One last thing that no one knows,
For love, I keep a single rose,
And when it's moist with tears or dew,
Be sure, that I have thought of you.
