Try To Put Me Down

Contributed by forgottensorrow on Sunday, 9th May 2004 @ 02:56:31 PM in AEST
Topic: toughstuff

Your words were hurtful
They hit me somewhere inside that had never been exposed to any pain
The pain I ignored
and made it not gain
One single ounce on me
One that I knew would bounce back in your face
At a later date
Whether it be by victory or fate

For a couple of years
You thought you were part of my fears
But I did not fear you
Your lies I never listened to
I knew they weren't true

Try to put me down
I might not know what to say
I might wear a frown
but frowns aren't fears
Not today, not any day

Try to put me down
It'll last
for a second or two
but that goes by fast
and in the end
that time was just wasted
Because I know what you are
You dug a hole down too far
I'm sorry what you go through
It's not your fault that you're flocked
I would reach a hand out to help
but my hand would just be mocked
By your endless hatred towards anything less than perfect

Forever you will be mocking
Forever you will be hating
For nothing is perfect
Not even yourself

this was wonderful. i like how it tells a story about somebody who hurt you so many times but now you won't stand for it. (that is what this is about right?) anyways, it is a beautiful write, and it flows so purely i love it.

Good write your words come through perfectly. I just hope forgiveness will come just as perfectly
