A Look from Heaven

Topic: Grief

A look From Heaven
-------------------
In the early hours of morning,
When the dew lies on the grass.
Quietness is in the air,
And the sleepiness has passed.

Your memory comes to mind,
In the stillness of the morn.
And even after all these years,
My heart is completely torn.

I wonder if you can look from heaven,
Down upon your son.
And look upon his life,
And the way that it’s been run.

Can you see your grandson sleeping?
Though his eyes you’ve never seen.
This precious little child,
Laying peacefully in a dream.

Do you know he reminds me of you?
Especially his mischievous little grin.
If he had only gotten the chance to know you,
Your best buddy he surely would have been.

I can feel a tear forming,
In my eyes or is it yours?
I know both of our hearts are breaking,
As these memories keep us tore.

I hope you’re proud of me daddy,
I’ve tired to live the way you taught.
I’ve kept my eyes focused on the journey,
Though at times I feel it’s all for not.

Its mornings like this that are hard to shake,
Hard to put on a happy face.
When my heart longs to be with you,
In stead of this human race.

But don’t worry I’ll be fine,
After all you taught me well.
I’ll talk to you tomorrow morning,
But for now I’ll say farewell.

This was utterly touching, and It was my pleasure to read it. The point of view is so powerful, and the closing is incredibly potent:

"But don’t worry I’ll be fine,
After all you taught me well.
I’ll talk to you tomorrow morning,
But for now I’ll say farewell"

So good
