Don't Leave Me, My Darling

Contributed by Meat on Saturday, 8th May 2004 @ 10:11:59 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

You put your hand on my face
I start to cry on you
I look into your eyes and see,
That you are crying to.

Your face is bleeding badly,
But you are so beautiful to me
Even though your body is broken,
Your inner beauty is what I see.

I can hear the ambulance coming
Help will soon be here,
Girl, to ever be away from you,
Is worse than my worst fear.

The man who hit you steps out of his car
He seems to be alright
But he's starting to stagger and fall around,
It's obvious he's been drinking tonight.

We are both crying hard now
I just don't know what to say
Because I put a ring on your finger,
Only just earlier today.

Your lips are like the setting sun
And your hair is a golden shade
Girl, you're everything I've ever called lovely,
Your shine will never fade.

The rain is starting to fall now
Just like the tears from our eyes
Please don't leave me, my darling,
Please, don't die!

I want to live my life with you
I want to kiss you everyday
I want to live with you in paradise,
And raise children along the way.

But your heart slows down it's beating,
And you cough in a threatening way
You are slowly falling away from me,
"I love you" is all I can say.

You look up into me and whimper
"I love you", and you breathe your last
I cry all over you now,
This life just happens too fast.

I will love you forever, my darling.
Pete Parke
