the cat taps her tail
in time with the woman
walking along the pavement
outside
feline and i are delighted
that we can watch
for hours
without being seen
how crafty, how thrilling
grass blows
senses twitch
a man shuffles past
pupils follow closely
what have we learnt today?
look where you're going
but always look back
on the life you've drifted through
naturally, everyone's been watching you
swivelling lenses,
pixels on aching screens
the crossed wires that strangle us
there to keep us in line, on line,
suffocated to everyone when we wish there
wasn't such a drought of privacy
every dark corner has a torch
every pin has it's code
every lock has it's key
so no more trying to escape, please.

A poem worthy of a 10.
"the crossed wires that strangle us
there to keep us in line, on line,"
How apt that line is in describing recent events. I think this is probably one of the best (free-verse) poems I've read in a month, It made me smile, think, and think again.
Qualitas, Ms. Dagger.
My appreciations. |
