Ruffling of feathers, mine
Every time you question me
Anxious to be alone, leave me
Let me sit here in my solitude
Twisting strands of words
Carefully written in pretty books
My dreams and loves
Collecting dust on the shelves
While you ruffle my feathers
With your annoying cloying tendencies
Suffocating me as I sit here quietly
Unrepentant, I do not love you
My mouth full of ashes and lies
To keep the peace and stay alive
Endurance to live one more day
Keeping my eye on the pages
Filling up with words of hope
That someday love’s fire will burn
Bonfire, passion and excitement return
His name whispered on my lips
A kiss as welcome as summer rain
He lives on the page in the words
