But a Blemish

Burnt flesh,
Smouldering regret.
They don't make them like you anymore,
Few and far.
See the girl I was
Under your thumb.
You know you had your turn,
You know I never ruled you out,
Jus that
It was too close to the bone
To draw the line.
Threw my trust against
The winds that blew
Round your bend,
Watched me confuse my left from right
Or wrong...?
Whatever it was,
It was a stretch too far
For my reach.
Now that I am out of your's,
Wounded, grafted, sore
Skin to shield
Our sins.
I'll confess I wanted more
Than you had to give.
Now you I can forgive.
You are but a blemish,
Burnt flesh.
