Punk Show (4000 Watts)

Forty forgotten youths, cooped up
in the back of the alleyway
dance club, where that hepatitis
scare happened in ’98, chant in
ultimate cosmic dissonance with
the rest of all being.
Swinging their unwashed hair
with the force of the titans,
these lost virgins fight tooth
and nail to out-scream, out-sound,
and out-sacrifice their saviors
on stage.
Funneling their sweaty tears through
the blood in their noses, they
abandon hope, sanity, and personal
security for something worth
the trade: a fleeting moment of
sweet salvation and praise.
