Conflict

Contributed by Cynthia on Monday, 3rd May 2004 @ 01:21:15 PM in AEST
Topic: FamilyPoems

You let your mind
rule your heart,
and it makes me sad.

You know you do wrong,
but it just
doesn't seem to matter.

I feel like I'm
being stabbed with a knife,
everytime you do something wrong.

I want my daughter back,
the one I used to know.....
the one I used to love.

Calm down sweetie. I hate to tell you but you have a few more years to go with this teen angst and rebellion thing. Getting upset only makes it worse for you and for her. Try to keep calm and keep an open door for her so she can step back into the safety zone when she needs to. Girls start usually about 11 and boys about 13. It is a growing stage most all children go through. It is that breaking out stage and trying to find themselves. It will eventually end when she is about 17-19. Gotta let her learn Mom even though it will drive you up the wall. Make peace with it and learn how to cope. It is up to you as to how all this will end, friends or enemies.

Love,
Rita

Oh Cynthia, I know the feeling, but let me try to help you understand what your daughter is going through right now. One of my girls taught me this. She is too big to play dolls and paper dolls anymore, but not mature enough to big grown and do the grown-ups things. This means one day she is a litle girl, the next a woman.......this is a constant conflict with her. Guide her and by all means do not let her think she is on her own. She needs your guidelines more than ever now, since she is searching for her own path, but don't under any circumstances let her abuse you either.......then she is abusing herself. Sit down with her and tell her how you truly feel, encourage her to tell you how she feels. Communication can help bring the gap together.....but don't blame it on yourself if she doesn't turn out well.......remember children are only loaned to us, and we can do everything we can think of to keep a good relationship......but sometimes they have their own minds........and unfortunately they don't include you!
Hang in there, tho and never give up
love you
cconsue

wow... that just gives a big smack along side the head, or more like running into a wall...

it just hits you... that's what this poem does...
powerful it is, but so true... I would hate to think that something I do, would inspire such thought in my father's head... best of luck to you, and i hope your daughter comes to her senses...

again, another inspiring, yet meaningful write from cynthia...

If they can land a man on the moon,
Then surely I can land upon your heart
