On the pillow, sprawled across
The whitewash cell, hard
Asphalt against my back.
Heart beating softly, almost
Reluctantly, as long lost
Memories flood my mind.
Strolling down 5th avenue and Mill
Elbows locked, hands in pockets;
You were mine, forever and always.
News of your discovery shocked
Me like venom from a snake,
Overwhelming my blood, my
Mind is out of reach.
A distant bark from the floor guard
Reaches my ears. Wiping from
My eyes quiet tears, tell me,
How did I end up here?

Very well written. I appreciate you incorporating venom to ram home the intensity of the the shock. Discovery . . . I'm still wondering at this, and reading . . .
5 stars. |

Good strong poem. It must be a shock to have to undergo such an experience.
