Day of the bees

Topic: HumorPoetry

My wife and I were cleaning the yard.
Mowing the grass and working real hard.
I never imagined by a quarter past three,
We would be fighting a whole bunch of bees.

I just put the mower away in the shed.
She was weeding the front flowerbed.
I went over to help her weed out the roses,
When I suddenly saw them under our noses.

We backed away and I grabbed a spray can.
But, my neighbors’ dumb dog had other plans.
He ran through the flowers and right in the hive.
About two hundred bees just all come alive.

If he would’ve stayed home I could’ve fought ‘em.
Instead he got bee stings allover his bottom.
I hosed him down and then he ran home.
My wife continued the fight with bee foam.

When I returned, I found her just a fussing.
The bees started stinging, she started cussing.
She ran out of foam so we both grabbed a bat.
We kinda looked funny swinging this way and that.

One went down my drawers and boy did it hurt.
But not near as bad as the one in my wife’s shirt.
My neighbor came over and had lots more spray
And after an hour of that those bees turned away.

We circled the house and killed all the nests.
Now we are free of those mean little pests.
We all learned a valuable lesson that day,
When cleaning the yard, keep that dumb dog away.
