Frozen eyelids picture the things I did to you,
The things I said to you that came unglued
As your eardrums pounded your thought...
It all came to me in liquid form
And certain courage was born,
Enabling me to say anything,
Words I never had the strength to say
Did I shed a little extra light on your day
Did it hurt your eyes, or was it only surprise
And I felt the salty sting as it fell from your face,
Lifting me to embrace…
Warmth only your eyes could provide.
For the first time I cried.
Yet denied your sympathy,
For it felt like nothing… to me.
And I formed this bitter sweet
One that you could always count on
Lost in your oblivion
