Shabby by all accounts and little to recommend it
Pick-up trucks and Harleys are the favored toys
By the hardworking mill town girls and boys
Give up dreams to punch time cards, earn per diem working graveyard
Surrounded by harsh mountains, no tourists come to see
Take their pleasure where they find it, they grow old before their time
Playing pool and shooting darts down at the local bar
A band comes in from out of town look like rock n roll stars
Saturday night and tires squeal at girls in tight blue jeans and tees
Mill houses line the shabby streets; peeling paint says poverty
Knows the name of every woman and man in town
Who was born to live and die in this cold forgotten place

I live near an old mining town that was once a thriving community and is now a dead, sad little forgotten burg. Times change and ways die. Tragic when you think about it.
This is written with your unique ablility to make the reader feel and see everyting just as you do.
Very well done

Well, if this wasn't a punch into my past. Sounds like it has changed little. Great visuals in this one combined with such a sense of despair.
