Divorcing the Past

I made love
To your memory
One last Christmas morning,
Neath a glistening gift tree.
I unwrapped myself of you
In raptures,
A tortured moan
Shattering the morning.
All in one,
All undone.
Now I am married to
The remembrance of you
In my mind,
In the turning of seasons and time.
But my heart has
Divorced itself
From all feeling for you,
As I make love to
The future
And another.

Oh, Bravo! This is excellent. The whole turning and acceptance and movement forward. I have lived this journey and you have described it well.
