Give Us A Kiss

Topic: LovePoetry

Oh Melis, Melis, give us a kiss.
How often have I heard words such as this?
I’ll give you a kiss and more if you’re true,
But tell me what do I mean to you?
Oh Melis, Melis, of you I'm so fond.
Fond? That’s no commitment or bond!
I’m fond of animals or my nephews and nieces,
And in the bath, singing operatic pieces.
I want something that goes way beyond.
Go plop your fond over there in that pond.

Oh Melis, Melis, give us a kiss.
How often have I heard words such as this?
I’ll give you a kiss and more if you’re true,
But tell me what do I mean to you?
Oh Melis, Melis, but you I really do like.
Like? In me that won’t cause lightning to strike!
I like chocolate, ice cream or cheese.
Am I to be compared to things such as these?
It’s all far too wishy washy, so, on your bike!
You and your like can go take a hike.

Oh Melis, Melis, give us a kiss.
How often have I heard words such as this?
I’ll give you a kiss and more if you’re true,
But tell me what do I mean to you?
Oh Melis, Melis, to me your so cool.
Cool? How dare you take me for such a fool!
Cool means no more than you like my style.
Words like that get me running a mile.
Don’t pull the wool over my eyes with your cool.

Oh Melis, Melis, give us a kiss.
How often have I heard words such as this?
I’ll give you a kiss and more if you’re true,
But tell me what do I mean to you?
Oh Melis, Melis, how deeply I care.
Care? Well that certainly takes us nowhere!
I care about good causes and politics and stuff,
But in relationships, care is just not enough.
So, just take your care and get out of my hair.

Oh Melis, Melis, give us a kiss.
How often have I heard words such as this?
I’ll give you a kiss and more if you’re true,
But tell me what do I mean to you?
Oh Melis, Melis, I will give you the moon.
Moon? Giving me that won’t make me swoon!
It’s distant and lifeless and so very cold.
A lump of rock in space, nothing I want to hold.
So go take your moon and sing a different tune.

Oh Melis, Melis, give us a kiss.
How often have I heard words such as this?
I’ll give you a kiss and more if you’re true,
But tell me what do I mean to you?
Oh Melis, Melis, I’ll give you the stars as well
Stars as well? Oh will you? Like hell!
The stars are like you, just a load of hot gas.
So, if you dont mind, on your offer I’ll pass.
Your starry-eyed cliches just arent for me, truth to tell

Oh Melis, Melis, give us a kiss.
How often have I heard words such as this?
I’ll give you a kiss and more if you’re true,
But tell me what do I mean to you?
O Melis, Melis, you are my own true love.
Love? At last I’ve found it, thank heaven above!
Just what I’ve longed for to make me feel whole,
And in return I’ll give all of me, body and soul..
So hug me, kiss me and don’t stop there, my dove.
