______________
Clouded backdrop, landscape
Your portrait in faded colors
Thinking you were my hero
When I was your lover
Wretched in spite of ourselves
Desire as red as wine
Glowed under pale winter skin
Cool color of your sapphire eyes
Remained constant through storms
Consistent phrases from your lips
Caressed my ear with confidence
Until you lost interest
Falling silent in another room
My feet drag across the floor
Sweeping memories from cobwebs
Rolling up emotions to ease the pain
Backward glances at shadows
Could have been tears in my eyes
Falling like diamonds
If only you had loved me more

Merry, I teared up over this one. I know this feeling oh too well. I love how you dissect an emotion and a relationship and how it moves over time. Still feel like you have lived my life.
