Where Angels Rest

Contributed by wordpoet on Wednesday, 2nd October 2002 @ 11:30:00 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

A warm spring breeze blew through our hair, sunlight on our face,
The pine trees covered all around as we entered in this place.
A rocky clearing near the cliff soon came into sight,
It seemed a spot where angels rest when weary from their flight.
From this vista we could see where ground and sky did meet,
And so we stopped and held our breath in nature's grand retreat.
As we stood I thought about life's twisted game of fate,
And all the things that happened, to bring me my soul mate.

When first I met her years before, I did not think her sweet,
She dated then a friend of mine so my feelings were discreet.
I felt she was to proud and vain, attention was her game,
But opinions that I felt back then soon were not the same.
In time I learned the truth behind the face she would present,
A wounded heart of gentle tears, an anger without vent.
I realized it was the friend who treated her so cruel,
And if this were the days gone by, I'd have killed him in a duel.

Hearts entwined we went our way and started our own life,
And the first day was a time of joy but also of great strife.
With nowhere to go we packed the car, our journey had begun,
Right then there I understood our two hearts were now one.
Our first stop was a place, where beauty could be shared,
Through the trees, unto the rocks, where earth and sky had paired.
So in this place where angels rest, I held love in my arms,
Completely captured, heart and soul, by my angels charms.
