Darkness
Darkness, darkness is my friend
Darkness it has let me in
Darkness is not depression
Darkness is not suicide
Darkness is just where I chose to reside
I have no need for the need for the harsh light of day
Where all my imperfections are out on display
Bright sunlight only burns me alive
I need the darkness, if I am to survive.
Brightness doesn’t lie
Darkness is my shield
I feel less naked and revealed
Darkness’ cloak of secrecy
Suits me so uniquely
I’m free in the darkness
No prying eyes
No forked tongued lies
My sanctuary is the velvety back of darkness
Where there is no need to paint pretty pictures of unnecessary obligations
Sweet darkness, my friend
My love
My salvation
My soul
Blessed be the darkness
Darkness swallows me whole
Thank you, thank you silent darkness.
