Twisted Fishing

Exploring unknown backroads for that perfect
fishing spot
My car was loaded with rod, reel, and enough
supplies for a morning of relaxation
After a two hour drive the rewards of a small
river bed heightened my antisipation
Finally my small hermetic raft was ready
I cast off as the sun was climbing the horizon
to bless me with natures beauty
Soon I was pondering in my thoughts as my rod
came alive with my first bite
The fish proved to be unwieldy, but my determination
prevailed
A small current tugged my raft downstream while
I marveled a ten pound carp
My smile was one of ridicule , but as my raft
speed up the fish would have the last laugh

Because...

Then I hit the rapids and let me tell you my friend
That water got so rough I thought Bob this is the end

My boat just started spinning and let me tell you this
Nothing was more degrading then that smile on the fish

First thing out was tackle, next my brand new reel
Then that fish looked up at me and said now how do you feel

My body started jerking from the left then to the right
As if that weren't enough, my ten pound fish went into flight

That sucker hit the water and waved when I went by
If not for the fact that I was scared, I would have cried

I soon found calmer water, and the horror ended there
I soon was back on shore sucking in some clean fresh air

As I stood there wet and cold, I just started wishing
I would have watched the ball game, instead of going fishing
