Jolted out of my slumber
Dense darkness drowning me
Eerie silence floating throughout
Wait, there it is, a steady drum
In and out, on and off, mysterious
Beat engulfing the night it won’t
Stop it I must, before someone
Else hears. A hole in the wall,
A finger of rope inviting me in.
Stop the beating, it mustn’t go on.
Wrapping around me, so warm and
Rough. Drawing closer, tighter,
My eyes shut as the drum
Fades away into the night.
