USE TO ROAM THESE WOODS!

Contributed by emystar on Wednesday, 28th April 2004 @ 01:46:18 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

Design by: ~Linda's Signature~

Remembering when was a wee Lassie
an Irish, Indian, German girl
wild and , Oh so free.

Use to roam these woods-n-play
never, ever, thinking
they'cut um but
started the other day.

Dad use to tell us
town will be across
that road out front.
Said, He'd never see it
I would.
It's a terrible loose.

Now the day has come, timber falling
what a sad site!
While my heritiege
silently sits bawling.

Greediness for money
is destroying our land!
They'll be much erosion,
wind, loose of many wildlife, oh man!

Some day the wildlife will vanish and will be like the dinasor.
What a sad thought.

A very powerful piece here. I agree with you 100%, you know if people keep ripping down our trees and keep building. Where will that leave the wildlife to go. You know i could understand if people put back, as much as they have taken away, but that is to much to ask i guess. Great job on this one.

Good poem. It is happening everywhere in the world it is about time that civilisation sat back and looked at what damage has been done so far. I am with you 100% on this one.

Sadly this is true. Greed seems to be the motivation to destroy a planet. Our ecological is less important when it comes to mans desires.

Sometimes I just sit and think about how long it takes for one mighty oak to grow. If I planted one now I wouldn't see it at its full beauty in my lifetime. It would be several generations down. Yet we cut down trees, destroy natural habitats etc.

It saddens me. I'm glad you wrote a poem like this Emy. Very wise you are.

Kie

Emy, I am so sorry to hear this. I hate it when man just tramples over everything at a whim. They don't seem to care that this is all a part of the health of the world. They are destroying js an acre at a time.

Love n hugs,
Rita

Such is the price of development the ask that the future tolls for our economic advancement. I am torn by this in two distint tones. Firstly to Darwin's trust I must say survival of the fittest... we have proven to be the masters of our ken...others less fit animals are doomed to their unfit death in response. So I should say this to you accept the price of civilization since we have been proven the fittest others less fit are our victims. It is even a law of nature that the many will die for the few (that's us) to survive. But on another temper we assume the task of caretaker and master upon this earth it is our responsibility to matter. We must consume to survive but perhaps our dues are as just to preserve what we can in our civilizations drive. We are nature's guardians superior intellect and sentinet souls means also that we have been given amongst the species of this earth the power to destroy or to protect... maybe we should also take care of this earth as it is just deserts... a duty to ourselves to nature and God.

Oh well... just my meanderings... hope you will find resolution to your cause...an idea...try to find out if your area is a habitat to a species endemic to it...cue:the spotted olws remember???...if you can find that the department of wildlife could order a halt to development as a sanctuary to a species found nowhere else...anyway nice write!

This poem really touches me.
I am very concerned with these issues.

Great write! Great read!
