Santa saves the West

Topic: HumorPoetry

The West was in a shambles,
the townsfolk needed a new hero
They got one from a place,
that was ten degrees from zero

The cowboys and the indians,
joined forces and would be
The new terror of the plains,
far as the eyes could see

They raided all the towns,
it grew worse from day to day
But help would soon arrive,
from a fat man on a sleigh

The townfolk started running,
but soon they all were caught
They probably would be free,
if they all just would have fought

But then a strange thing happened,
the winds just started blowing
A chill came from the North
and the horizon started glowing

Both the cowboys and the indians,
were spooked from a loud humming
The townsfolk knew that sound,
meant Santa Claus was coming

Santa landed and was yelling,
his words were strong and mad
He said "Don't matter who's been bad or good, all your butts are had"

The indians started laughing,
every cowboy cocked his gun
But Santa smiled and pointed,
he brought friends to have some fun

The cowboys and the indians,
turned to a thundrous noise
A thousand elves were charging,
they all were armed with toys

Some were armed with baseballs,
some with small toy trains
The others carried big long poles,
made out of candy canes

The cowboys and the indians,
just knew they couldn't win
They all put down their weapons,
as Santa said with a grin

You cowboys and you indians,
listen and listen quick
There's a new sheriff in town
and his name is ole St. Nick

Well, its a winner in my book. I love this. If you don't mind I am going to print it off to read to my grandchildren next Christmas. This is terrific.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
