Living A Life Full Of Ifs

Contributed by Rylo on Monday, 26th April 2004 @ 10:00:41 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

If I gave you my heart,
Would you be able to carry it
And would you be able to find all the love,
That you would ever need
Would it open the doors to new horizons
And let you see what a true heart,
Full of love really is
If I opened a door to my darkest past
Would our love truly last
If it showed what it was like to be me
Would you honestly have liked what you’ve seen
If you could have seen all of the ones I have hurt
Would you feel like you would be burnt
If you could see all the tears,
That I have caused to fall
Or how my life feels like a bouncing ball,
Stuck between four walls
Would you still want me after all
If I told you what I want for the future
Would you help me paint the picture
If I had told you that I was a changed man
Would you walk with me,
With our feet in the sand
If I said that I only wanted you
Would you believe that my words were true
Or would you turn to something new
If I offered you a white picket fence,
And a new home
Would you tell me
That you could do it on your own
These are some things that run through my head
As I lie awake in my lonely bed
Some people truly can change, when in the time of need
Just as others continue to live their life in greed
This is the life of so many men,
Who have hurt so many women
These women deserve much more respect guys
So why don’t you all open your eyes
And stop hiding behind the walls of lies
Or before long you will be all alone,
To walk a very lonely road.

Good strong statements, Rylo. I admire a man when he can admit he is or was wrong. As you say, they need to get real with life and love. It is not a game and it hurts bad when it comes back to you. You did good!

Rita

Rylo as a child I was taught to repect all peoples. I have always tried hard to be respectful to all especially the womenfolk whether young or old. I know there is a lot of truth in your poem I see it often among people that I know some even that I do not know. It always hurts and your last words are very true. To walk a lonely road.

bernard.
