My Love's Fire

Contributed by J_Ganey on Tuesday, 1st October 2002 @ 05:50:00 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

Walking back down the path I wondered many moons ago
Back around the time I read Behind My Angel Glow
Finding my dark sword, still stuck through that old oak tree
My dark armor, my trench coat, still lying there plainly

It was here in this place, I was knighted to serve a new queen
A woman of beauty, the likes of which I’d never seen
I jabbed this old blade through the bark tired of living in the past
Knowing I had found the one, that would end my pain at last

With a hand outstretched, I retrieved it from it’s slumber
With a couple of grunts, it recovered from the mighty lumber
Choosing not to cloak myself, in midnight’s hue once more
I instead return to the peacefulness of the castle grounds, dressed as before

Taking needle and thread, I modify the armor with care
Embroidering my eternal love, into the leather that is there
Inserting a letter into the pocket, sealing it with an angel’s kiss
Accepting that only the best could actually come from this

Scrawled upon the page, my handwriting at it’s best
Small spots mixed with ink, marking where my tears came to rest
Upon that page, I reluctantly grant her request
Time to make sense, of her life’s mess

She asked me for time to put her past fully behind
Not the first time I had the misfortune of hearing those lines
Deep inside though I have reason to believe it’ll be different this time
Which is why, I’ve composed this little gift package, to go with my rhyme

Giving her the black armor I once wore
And the sword I used to spill my demons blood on the floor
Leaving the gifts, where we’d danced under the stars before
Right where, I know she’ll find them for sure

Knowing that while wearing the armor she’ll feel my embrace
And I hope she can use it, to draw up her up her strength
Hoping that the love I used to sharpen the blade gives it a stronger edge
And she’ll always be reminded of the love for that I’ve pledged

-But as for me, her knight, I know what I must do
I’ll lurk within the chambers of her heart proving my promise true
Hiding in the shadows, with a crossbow ready to fire
Ready to do whatever it takes, to protect my love’s fire
