Innocence

Contributed by Soulless on Sunday, 25th April 2004 @ 06:12:22 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

I hope the long nights hold you tightly
Though I have never felt so lost before
I still cling to the remaining shreds
Never looken down upon before

Those torn up pieces
Lay forgotten on the floor
I see them clearly now
They’re all I have left

Slowly now they disappear from my sight
But who am I to say I love you
I’m nothing but a thief who stole your heart
Traded mine for broken pieces of you

Those torn up shreds
Were only meant for you
Yet I stole them
I kept them as fragments of you

Those torn up pieces
Lay forgotten on the floor
I see them clearly now
They’re all I have left

I’m returning these tattered pieces
Forgive me, I couldn't see past my own reflection
But who am I to have a mirrored image
Forgive me, All I wanted
Was to fix my pieces broken

Lovely and touching poem. Great write, but I'm not surprised, with your talent great poems should come naturally.
