Internal freedom is the realization that you can do anything you want - as long as you are willing to live with the consequences, both good and bad. External freedom is being able to do pretty much what you desire as long as it doesn't hurt anyone and say what you believe without being punished for it.
The battle between the amount of internal freedom and external freedom is a long history of mankind. Some people cannot stand to see other people having more freedom externally than they allow -themselves- internally and that leads to the effort to restrict what people are "allowed" to do. |
