Trying to Make it Through Today

Contributed by swiftsouljah on Friday, 23rd April 2004 @ 08:03:33 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

Who do I listen to
My heart or my mind
Can anyone detect the
Battle that rages
Within my insides
In the depths of my prison
Its 2 PM
But the sun hasn’t risen
Everyday’s terrific
And horribly the same
A little slice of hell
Reserved just for Wayne
Forever in agony
I lie here and think
Forever caught in this cycle
Forgetting
Reliving
Denying
Believing
Wishing and hoping
But still I’m crying
I sleep to forget
But it refreshes
The thoughts
I’ve had it
And I try to stop
But this is the hand
That I’ve been dealt
I wouldn’t wish
The pain I felt
On my worst enemy
I’m just a man
And I don’t know
Where to turn
I wonder
What’s the lesson
That I’m supposed to learn
So lost and confused
Can you help me
Cause I don’t know
What to do
I wonder why it’s easier
To find a different girl
Every night
Than to find
Just one
To last you
The rest of you life
My hearts been torn
And the loves gone dry
My wings are broken
So I guess I’ll never fly
I try to open my eyes
But the nights so bleak
I try to stand up
But my knees are weak
I try to talk
But I can’t even speak
So I grab a pen
To give you a portrait
Of the pain
That lurks within
After your hearts
Been broken
And your living
Through fears
You haven’t yet spoken
How could I love
But never get repaid
Forget the future
I just trying
To make it through
Today

Hey! Its me harshreality. I haven't forgot ya. I switched intern. providers and I've been having some trouble. thanx 4 taking the time to comment on my poems. most people just comment on the ones listed on the home page. So thanx again. this poem was great! yours touch me too. I also sleep to forget. And your right. It does refresh the thoughts b/c I dream about him constantly and I wake up feeling lonely and too volnurable for comfort. They say a dream is a wish your heart makes. Sometimes I just wish I could stop wishing and other times I'm glad for the dreams b/c it keeps hope alive. Kind of a contradiction, but so is life. Oh and to answer your ? All of my poems are about the same person. I know one was about moving on, it was how I was feeling at that particular moment, but it never lasts long. My heart is stubborn or maybe something a little more powerful than stubborness forces me to hold on. I don't know. I'm a little confused but thats nothing new. Until I have a chance to figure out how to post under my old name I'll be annonymous. I can't see myself under another name. Harshreality really fits me. so if you get any annonymous comm. its me. Keep hope in your heart and no matter what you'll be okay.

Wayne - Another excellent write! Tell you a secret..... our recent comment exchange and something I saw from you on the forum got my mind working.... I turned some stuff around in my head for a day or so, layering in a couple other thoughts--- and--- out of all that thinking came "Dear Poet" (now posted on this site). And because YOU got the wheels turning in the first place, I've added the line "Soldiers of the word are we".... in your honor! Keep writing and I'll keep reading! Funny how "Trying to make it..." goes to the same point - I hadn't read it before "Poet"! Anyway, great job! and Thanks!
