Cogito ergo sum

Contributed by hurretje on Friday, 23rd April 2004 @ 03:26:43 AM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

Cogito ergo sum
In this place
At this very moment
Stilled
As the universe stretches
Sighing, an unheard scream
Echoes till the end of times
As the world turns
Conducting the seasons
That die each time

I am the presence
The beacon
Along which time flows
From future to past

Cogito ergo sum

Here
Right now
Silenced
As the universe flows
A courtship with time
Until they melt in unity
As the world whirls
Exposing both sides
That dress in black and white

I am wisdom
The standard
Through which reality is filtered
From dreams and lost hope

Cogito ergo sum

I am the source
All that is belongs to me
All begins and ends with me
My world, my universe
There is no before or after me

Cogito ergo sum
I am the center
All I give comes back to me
All I take once came from me
My sun, my stars
There is no old and new for me

Cogito ergo sum
I am God
I create and destroy at will
I am infallible thus in harmony
I behold my universe
And think of thee

Breathe, breathe, breathe, I tell myself. Yep, you took my breath away with this one. I am a Christian and was so hoping that you were talking about my beloved Lord. Wow! I feel honored to have read this.

Brighter words than
Sheen of sun
On brazen shield-boss
And keen-tipped spearhead.
Bravo!

excellent piece. has an existential feel to it---you know, the 'deus et machina' struggle of self-awareness. really astute portrayal.
thanks for sharing.

This is truely amazing! It flows seamlessly. I found myself just reading in awe of the words in general. I had to go back and focus on what you were saying, and when I did that, I discovered how much better it was. Not only is this just beautiful, but the words mean something. This is the best I've seen on this site. Wow!

cosmic would be the word my inebriated friends wud use. ha ha. liked the layout and technique of this poem, but thought it went in the wrong direction. theres such an omnipotence about the poet, that there is no room for "thee". jst my opinion
