Signatures By The Tired Lion
one lives in a small dwelling; silent
wayfarer, gave up all and everything to
do so as he believes, no electric, running
water or frills, no flowers on his table, no
one to talk to; for the ones he sees on his
few outings scare him terribly to pieces.
the other lives with his dog and 40 cats,
growing strawberries and hair down to his butt,
and collecting empty beer cans, trashbags full
throughout his home, for aluminum would be worth
a small fortune if he ever turned it in; but that
would mean going out into the ugly world of humans.
both down to earth and earthy, one never bothers
or bathes only in the river, the other owns a home
with property, one poor as infertile soil, the other
rich as kings, both highly intelligent excentric genius'
they know each other; but will visit one another not for
they cannot have
the world invade their solitude.

Maybe I have been single to long but the guy in the first stanza sounds like my dream guy. You know there is something enticing about hermits. What it is? I dunno. If I knew I'd share it. Maybe it is the enigma or illusiveness or maybe it is the unapproachable demeanor. I think I could fall in love with a hermit. I sure loved this poem.
p.s. My address is....
LOL

I am a loner in the sense that I could live forever here on the farm and never leave again if I didn't have to go to town to survive. I feel very rich in my life because I have wonderful friends who love me with or without being with me. Sometimes the very best talks are done silently. You are amazing, my dear friend.

To live the life of a hermit, never feeling the agonies that go with lending yourself to the world. not a bad idea....
This is an amazing bit of work here Ness :o)
Why am I not surprised it's written by you

LOL ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...cute and nice what can I say but touche!..
I am not a true hermit but I guess I am aspiring to be one...after quitting my job and severing my ties a few years back retreating from a world I find too terrible to live in... I have been living apart from society ...only going out for necesseties. I too hate it when I s the world I have to wade through.... I usually go out on monday mornings as people are busy at work and I can have the shops to myself. I still have family of course and this internet thing... I might hate peole up close but I maintain a select group of friends at a distance.... emails and such...but the downside to being a hermit is that I die alone and no one will be at my funeral...???
Anyway.... nice and funny write...skillfully done....the descriptions are just to coincidental that you could have been writing about some of the things that I am....a hermit of sorts... I don't really shun material things of course.. I have a car..a computer and a sleeping bag and some other stuff...eh ermmmm the normal things in a house...but I shun people...so I am a hermit....he he he
truthfully I am not really living in the wilds but I remain in my room and living space most of the time...at least until my savings and family's good will runs out then I will really have to go into the woods...LOL ha ha ha...
Lastly great work dear fellow YPDC poetess... it gives me a ready supply of delight to read this here words of yours. |

lol the first guy reminded me of - ahem - someone - but we won't go there lmao. A beautiful poem - seems like there are many hermits among us - connected only by the thin line ot internet - as we never meet face to face - yet feel closeness only from fair away. I see these two characters quite clearly in my mind's eye as I read - made me sad really - as one of the great joys in life is in a warm embrace and and to feel the breath of someone's laughter on your cheek
Beautiful write sis
Hugs
