The First Time

I think I bled the first time.
My eyes are pools of salt
Again.
Your voice catches and carries
On a wave.
My indecision fears its tone
And begs to know:
Are you asking or telling?
Do little girls fall away
And become women
In the space of a minute
Between your lips and hips?
Is that what you have made of me?
A deeper shade?
Blood red,
The first time,
Ever,
I was loved.

A very powerful poem.
"Do little girls fall away
And become women"
Priceless words.
