In the woods one evening,
I was alone in my wandering.
When in front of me I beheld
a beauteous creature in an open field.
A Goddess of yore she seemed.
The sunlight off her gleamed.
Her hair, the purest, gold,
flowed down her back like a river of old.
Her face was more radiant than the sun.
Her smile, so bright, had me stunned.
Her eyes, so blue, could warm any heart.
The rest of her body a work of art.
But lo as she walked towards me.
She took the shape of a tree.
Her hair turned to golden leaves.
Now my heart to this tree cleaves,
and never will I find love nor peace.
