I Think Of You

When the day is long,
And there's nowhere I seem to belong;
I think of you.
And the night is cold,
And my arms need someone to hold;
I think of you.
On an empty street,
With just echoes of my own two feet;
I think of you.
Turning the key in the door,
Entering my lonely room as before;
I think of you.
As I fall asleep,
Too tired even to care or weep;
I think of you.
At each new day break,
And sobbing till I shake;
I think of you.
When I try to make another start,
Gathering the remains of my heart;
I think of you.
As I listen to the rain falling,
And Imagine I hear you calling;
I think of you.
When I forget where I am or why,
Preoccupied trying not to cry;
I think of you,
Until, home once more,
Collapsed upon the floor:
I think of you.
Then as twilight fades to black,
I pretend you’re coming back;
And wait for you.
And waiting all night through,
With nothing else to do;
I just think and think and think of you.
