How can it hurt to love you,
When you are everything I want?
How can I stand to love you,
When you are everything I want to be?
I know I've hurt you,
And the pain is mine as well.
I don't want this feeling,
This restless animosity that feeds upon my battered heart.
But admiration and resentment are a thin line,
And it's a bitter battle.
I've dug my trenches,
And I will not back down
Until victory has been acheived.
But at what cost does this victory come?
Will it be my own naive insecurities,
Or perhaps the fragile fragments of
Self-esteem I picked up somewhere along the way?
I only want to love you,
But I see the hurt in your eyes.
I only want to hold you,
But I feel myself hesitate.
It's only for a moment-
But I cannot fail to notice the knife that stabs your heart
As I swiftly sidestep your embrace.
How I long to feel you next to me as I once did;
The smoothness of your skin,
The gentle firmness of a loving embrace.
Warm, tender,
Pure
Let me melt with you again.
I long to feel your heart beat with mine,
But I feel only a cold hardness that isn't your own,
Barricading you from me
With unexpected force.
Somewhere beneath this sheild of plastic and pain
There lies only
You,
Bearer of my heart
And soul.
I will continue this struggle upon my weary self.
I will chase the lurking phantoms from the shadows of my mind.
Rest assured, my dearest;
All the demons in my head cannot quench this raging love.

This is sometimes how I feel... about different ppl I know and love very much...
Good poem... u done a fantastic job writing it... keep it up...
