Censorship

Any form of censorship defeats us from the start,
We must assume 'Big Brother' doesn't think we're very smart.
'Big Brother' thinks we're better off with governmental guide,
And agencies with chosen heads give us a taxing ride.

You've heard a fight with city hall is very hard to win
And that's because the laws were made to knock you off your pin,
Many laws were copied from the Canon laws of yore,
Which shook a finger at you and at you they'd surely roar,

The F.C.C. gets in the act and now our entertainment,
Gets watered down until you frown at all of their containment.
Who's to judge the right or wrong of any poet's work,
What's good for me and good for you might drive us both berserk.

I only ask you let me be and let me write my write,
How bad can English letters be, they surely will not bite,
If you do not like my words or thoughts and they offend you some,
Then do not read my poetry and have a tot of rum.

I'll raise a glass to all your writes
they do not disrupt my sleep at night
I do believe that words can bite
I"ve seen some looks that do
but none that come from you!

So here's me doing my persuasive paper on censorship for sophomore English class:
Hmm. I should write a poem about censorship. Hmm. Wonder if anyone already wrote something about censorship.
BAM!!!! Norm's got an awesome poem on censorship and I love it to pieces and the rhyme scheme is awesome and it's a heckuva lot better than what I would've written!
BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love,
Chelsea
