Oh, Where Had I Been?

Contributed by Justalady on Tuesday, 20th April 2004 @ 05:38:47 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I had gone to find the inner part of myself...one lonely night.
And, almost was lost in the emotional wings of failing flight.
I only wanted to experience the things felt by many...in fantasy's dreams,
but found my escape to be much more than it seemed.

I felt pleasure and pain, desire and guilt as it all became one,
as I sat alone in the evening, watching a setting sun.
Oh, where had all these feelings hid, for so many...many years?
Why in surfacing did they bring such endless tears?

Even as my cheeks felt the warmth of their wetness, I must confess,
I lingered long, for I wanted to experience nothing less
then the complete fulfillment of love I had only dreamed about.
But, in this emotional process....almost lost my way out.

A startled voice, my consciousness of many years lived before
warning me that these dreams were not reality, could be nothing more
than an occassional fantasy, as I sat on this distant beach.
But I....now having felt it, know that it's within my reach.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
