A Perfect Size

Contributed by parkman on Tuesday, 20th April 2004 @ 12:55:15 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

I want to be perfect, shaped like an hour glass
Racy curves, tight little ***
Long thin legs, to the top of my thighs
Wearing the prettiest dress, the perfect size

I’m not bad looking, just overweight
I’ll go on a diet, then feel great
Heads will turn, as I go by
Look at me, in awe and sigh

I’ll skip breakfast, miss lunch too
Then have dinner, that will do
See me thin down, to that perfect size
Looking at me, with disbelief in your eyes

Not losing it fast enough, dinner will go
Instead I’ll snack, a yoghurt or so
I can survive, on just a little
Starting to look good, what do you mean brittle

I’ve lost so much, was a size ten
Now a size six, more to lose then
I will reach, that perfect size
What’s that look , of pity in your eyes

I can’t go on, I feel so beat
I need food but I can’t eat
No more strength, to digest
I need to lie down, for a rest

I lost to much, but, I am wearing my dress
As they lay me down, for my final rest
I reached it though, that perfect size
Please don’t cry, wipe your eyes

very sad but what makes it so sad is that a lot of girls actually go through this.

You have written a very good poem here. The flow was notable in its progression through the subject matter, as was the original subject matter, tackled with wit, candour and wisdom. I will go read more of your poetry now.
Before I do, however, I'll give this 5 stars.
Well done.

WELL,,, VERY PLEASANT SURPRISE THIS ONE. IT VERY MUCH REMINDS ME OF EMILY DICKENSON'S POEMS, IF YOU HAVENT READ MUCH OF HER I WILL INCLUDE ONE THAT I HOPE EXPLAINS WHY I THINK SO. THOUGHT THE RHYME WAS EXCELLENT IN THIS ONE, MOVED VERY EASILY UNDER MY EYES. I AM AT A LOSS TO TELL YOU HOW MUCH I ENJOY SOME OF THESE. NOT ALL MIND YOU, BUT SOME. LOL ANYWAY WILL CLOSE WITH DEAR EMILY. BOB

I DIED for beauty, but was scarce
Adjusted in the tomb,
When one who died for truth was lain
In an adjoining room.

He questioned softly why I failed?
“For beauty,” I replied.
“And I for truth,—the two are one;
We brethren are,” he said.

And so, as kinsmen met a night,
We talked between the rooms,
Until the moss had reached our lips,
And covered up our names.
