Blinded By The Light

Contributed by Alli on Tuesday, 20th April 2004 @ 10:24:37 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

One speck of dust falls far on its own
To land in a corner into which no light is shone
It sits and it waits all by itself
At the tippedy top of a rickety shelf
As time goes by, more dust falls
And settles into crevices where the insects crawl
The lonely speck of dust is no longer afraid
It's new life with new friends it would never trade
Until the sad day when there came a sound
Swoosh! And the dust was swept to the ground
Sent flying away, out of sight, out of mind
No longer wanted, now forgotten, nothing left to find
Now the tiny speck of dust cries all by itself
As it lays in the trash looking up at the shelf
Memories as dark as the dead of night
Of the poor speck's journey into the light.
2003

Very unique insight, lol. I never looked at it like that before. I did not realize how lonely it just be for dust particles. I will tell the dust bunnies under my bed not to worry anymore. They have a lifelong home. This is a really great write.

ROFLMAO,
Rita

I enjoyed it! It's almost humerous how you mananaged to make such a great write out of something so insignificant, ha! Very well done. Another good piece. Yet again amazed by your talent!
