A Curse on the Ocean

Contributed by full_blur on Monday, 19th April 2004 @ 11:51:17 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

I sit,
for a moment on railroad ties
and remember the clash in darkening skies

I lie,
for a second in gathering dust
and pluck from a clover a moment of luck

I try,
for an instant of silence supreme
to call to the treasure I left in the sea

I cry,
for the half of love meant to be
and curse the ocean that took her from me

I absolutely love this poem... I have always found the ocean to be a symbolic as well as a spiritual icon of the power love embodies. The oceans illustrate a large and unending spance that can separate us further than we can see... it will give to us treasures of the sea, and can take from us who we used to be... I know love as such like the gentle waves that carry steep longings - yet upon reaching weak sand, then is presented an uprising break that brings a wave crashing down on me.
