the rose glistens in the morning
with dewdrops gleaming bright
her ruby petals shine like blood
as she wakes to the dawns new light
the rose shimmers in the daytime
in summers heavenly bliss
her thorns so sharp and sinister
she'll peirce with a painful kiss
the rose gleams in the twilight
with a bewitching dark red glow
for all beauty has an evil side
especially the kiss of the rose
