Moonlit Night

Contributed by Angelic_Demon on Monday, 19th April 2004 @ 08:46:53 PM in AEST
Topic: fictional

The night t'was beautiful,
the room lit only by candles.
It t'was a spell that she was working that night,
under the moonlight.

Her spell working was an offering to the Goddess.
Thanking her and acknowledging her.
This was in the olden days,
when they didn't accept her ways.

She did her spellworking in secret,
hiding her things, keeping them safe.
She was a Witch, afraid to speak of her ways,
knowing that not many would accept them.

Bringing out a sachet,
she finished her last stitchings.
T'was white, for healing and protection,
she had this in mind as she stuffed it with cinnamon.

But then she heard a voice.
She stopped, breath haulting.
Door slamming, feet pounding.
She heard more voices, someone moving up the stairs.

She moved quickly.
Blew out the candles,
and hid the herbs.
Then she uncast the circle.

But it was too late.
Her husband saw her ritual things.
Her heart froze, skipping a beat.
He was frowning at her and holding a bible.

"I'm caught, oh no..." she thought.
Her heart ached as he moved towards her.
Her secret was out.
She backed up, but he still moved.

"Witch," he hissed.
"I knew, but I never thought..."
She gulped.
He eyed her suspiciously.

That night was her last spell casting night.
