Cliff hanger

Contributed by Zexen on Monday, 19th April 2004 @ 01:05:03 PM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

I’m stood atop a cliff,
The sea breeze is blowing through my hair and filling my nostrils,
The sky is dark with storm clouds,
I look down ad see the drop before me,
All I want to do is jump,
Too end my suffering,

I stand and think,

I’m being greedy,
It would end my suffering,
But what of my family?,
They would suffer because of me,
Or do I think too much of my-self?,
Why would it cause any one pain if I was no longer here?,

Then,
From behind me I can hear a voice call out to me,
It’s telling me to stop and think,
But that’s what I’ve just done,
Or did I?,

Why is my mind so clouded?,

No,
I realise this is foolishness,
I turn to back away from the cliff but as I do I slip,
I can feel the ground slipping from beneath me,
I close my eyes knowing what is coming,
I start to fall,
I can hear a woman scream,

I’m still falling,
Still falling?,
I should have hit the floor by now,
Why haven’t I?,
I open my eyes,

I haven’t stopped,
