cruel dream

Topic: SadPoetry

I had a dream that you died,
waking with tears rolling down my face,
heart pounding as i cried,
gasping in lungfulls of air,
trying in vain to breathe,
i cried blood as my heart bled for you,
and prayed that it wasnt real.

How could my subconcious play such an evil trick?
stopping my heart from working inside my chest,
making me believe that you were gone to me forever,
making me die with the thought you had died.

myself playing tricks upon myself,
my cruel mind 'crying wolf' with my pain,
so here i am crying my heart out,
wanting to call, but too afraid.

not noticing my surroundings,
i put on laid out clothes,
turn around slowly,
to find someone i dont know,
i look at where im standing,
notice the hospital bed,
i can believe this is real,
this must be a dream instead.

but it turns out i was in a car crash,
and it wasnt just a dream,
yesterday a friend died,
while i was in healing sleep.

slowly i start to cry,
slowly cradle my knees,
sink to the floor silently,
wanting it to be a lie...

then i woke up...

some dreams are cruelty in disguise...

I had a dream that my mother died and I felt *nearly* the same way you described - I discovered her bloody body so the dream was obviously a bit more chaotic than yours, but I connect with your words.

Btw just wanted to share with you, I wanted to check out your poems again coz I read something funny you posted that wasn't meant to be funny: it was a suicide poem and everyone's comments read like "I understand your pain" and "you have so much to offer" and "very powerful write" then you go: "um, are you ok?" LoL it made me smile.
