Coming of Age.
Quick a birthday, his coming of age,
18, 21 or maybe any age.
He's grown into manhood, so tall & so brave,
But he's just a child, such a tender stage.
Why talk of manhood, coming of age,
He plays with the children, no sign of rage.
This is his manhood, this is his path,
Helping to change them, helping them bath.
Now though not amongst us, we cherish his life,
He'll have no children, no lover, no wife.
But we know for certain, he grew up so fast,
So many loving memories, of days gone past.
We celebrate a day of a life so sublime,
To a loved one, a friend, a Man long before his time.

I don't know why anyone bothered to vote this a one out of five. I would personally find that offensive, were I you, as this poem has a good rhyme structure and a poignant theme, which I found interesting and good enough to comment upon.
Keep writing. |
